I guess I came from the old school of manners. When the grandparent can't correct the child or the child decides he can just mouth off to the grandparent, shocks me.

Just last week, we had an incident whereby one of our grandchildren, a 20 year old showed so much hate and anger that he no longer wants anything to do with us, yet he has spent many a summer vacation at our house and did whatever he wanted to do, even sleeping till 1:00 p.m. while everyone kept quiet for him. He hardly ever ate with us cause he wasn't hungry then, but when the dishes were done and we were ready to go someplace, he had to look for something to eat. He text messaged on his phone to his friends day and night, even while playing a game of cards with his grandfather. Is this something all kids do? He is not a kid, cause he is over 18.

Well maybe I'm wrong, but I was brought up to respect my elders, even if I didn't like what was said. In todays society they can mouth off and get away with it, and it seems quite all right.

It's pretty sad when the parents have lost control and side with this kind of behavior instead of correcting it, but then again, he probably does this with his parents also.

Maybe he is a lost cause. He cannot take critism even from family, and the reason I think he can't, is, because he is and feels guilty of every thing we talk to him about, and feels he knows better.

One day maybe he will get knocked in the head and hopefully wake up or forever stay ignorant.patbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15175916689647269587noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093768947059883030.post-83243937061432676722010-02-12T17:45:00.000-08:002010-02-12T17:51:57.687-08:00GEORGIA SNOWI can't believe how much it snowed today. It started at about 1:00 this afternoon, and it is now about 3 to 4 inches deep. People are building snowmen and the drifts looks ominous.I think the last time I saw snow like this was 18 years ago. What is going on in the world? I thought this was global warming, shame on Al Gore.patbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15175916689647269587noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093768947059883030.post-26370112470426283792010-02-10T14:24:00.000-08:002010-02-10T19:08:50.752-08:00TimeSince Christmas, I've been wondering what I could do with spare time, other than exercising or cleaning house, so I decided to start making quilts again, I really enjoy doing this and after they are done, I want to keep all of them, butI give them to my kids, that way they will have something to remember me.

For Christmas, all of us tried to make our gifts, but the only quilt I was able to eek out was Duane's and Debbies. They loved it. Since then I have made my sister one and now I am in the process of making one for Tim.

Here are a couple of pictures of the completed ones, the third will be shown after it is completed.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFKBqDT1NZ7vq4rfa9rgCg0eCAQhtZtKZuRfku-LSDZhhG9hITNGAEetIzji9WcuA6rv67XNjDPr6I2FYglQii7nHMhd8NUxRE0s-o6Cc2vDC4ewlsrHJ-L_PBbt0S3fdaifbRKF0bv7As/s320/Rita's+quilt.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436817382426432450" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 212px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlJr849qRqKw0PhhmAq4hiRaIhEjDZwCS9cNpbsaQ_S0pb9D_GHX3wt6zqRk4cDilCOyF6Sj8prJljvQmd_2r-zwg1ip4M1Gf6Ho9la16Bz-U1Yr6aCijP-jP0ZgoJMk8gyC_DBVvLNxXN/s320/Mom+B+quilt+for+D%26D+2.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436817383050695186" />patbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15175916689647269587noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093768947059883030.post-31467998838025519552010-01-01T09:07:00.000-08:002010-01-01T09:19:37.842-08:00Home AloneEveryone was here for the holidays, and now everyone is gone. There was much preparation and anxiety, and wonderful times together. I miss it, but the solitude is nice too. My thoughts are of how wonderful all of my children turned out into their adulthood. What a blessing.

The weather was cold and windy and rainy most of the time, so time was spent inside. The house was warm and plenty of refreshments and treats to go around. This is the time to love and respect one another, and I saw all of that.

I hope everyone that reads my blog, has had a wonderful time with their families and my wishes are for a wonderful and happy New Year. Hoping and praying for a more peaceful 2010, and that the fighting will cease between man and country. May the Lord watch over everyone and allow peace to come into everyone's hearts.patbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15175916689647269587noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093768947059883030.post-49184871744662822982009-08-18T16:57:00.000-07:002009-08-18T17:20:10.466-07:00Surprise Birthday and Reunion PartiesIt started in June, Dawn and I were talking about everyone getting together, like we haveen't for some time since families have moved so far away. We were wondering how we could possibly get together once more. Dawn suggested having her Dad's Birthday party in the summer since his birthday falls on Dec. 15th. It is to be his 80th. birthday and quite a milestone for such an energetic person. The only time we could do this was when all of the teachers and pastor and grand and great grands were out of school for the summer, so we called it a dual party. It is so hard to describe how wonderful it was to see what Marcel and me and the Lord has created. The humanity was beautiful and the closeness like I've never seen before. I loved the planning and cooking and help I received from whoever wanted to be in the kitchen, which is the favorite part of my house. Everything was planned by Cheryl, Dawn and me, with sleeping arrangements made between Cheryls and my houses. Because everyone was comming in at different times, we were able to manouver people around for accomodations, and even though uncomfortable probably at times, managed to move through it. There was plenty to eat, drink and plenty of fun and catching up on everyones lives. All of the babies were content due to their wonderful mommies taking care of them and the whole family had their eyes on them. They are the the most polite children you can ever come across, even to the point of Mark kicking his little two year old into the big pool and the baby looking back and saying, "thank you Grandpa" no one could stop laughing at this and commented on it all night.

It was such a success that the family wants to do this again, and we will, we have already found an 8 bedroom house at Norris Lake in Tennessee an are looking into it for a potential reunion. But then again, GranddaughterTracy and hubby found a house with Aunt'Cheryl's help on 2 acres of land with a huge deck and olympic size swimming pool and may hold it there next year, we'll see.

All is quiet now and the house is clean, I can hear a pin drop on the carpeting, and do not like it. As a young child and only one sister, I always expressed a desire to have a large family, and I am surely blessed.patbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15175916689647269587noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093768947059883030.post-44194241218096865252009-07-10T18:32:00.000-07:002009-07-10T18:37:05.381-07:00Prisoner etc.I failed to mention, he broke bail by cutting off his ankle bracelet. He did not tell anyone where he was going. His probation officer kept calling his family to find out what happened, but no one knew anything.
Everyone thought he had turned a new leaf. His grandmother gave up her guest room for him, cooked all of his meals, took him any where he wanted to go. His grandfather bought him a car which he smashed up, his aunt took him for drivers lessons and his license and this was the gratitude he showed them.patbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15175916689647269587noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093768947059883030.post-57900794952550589452009-07-10T18:10:00.000-07:002009-07-10T18:29:28.873-07:00PrisonerI have an ex neighbor who has a grandson that has been in trouble all of his life, number one, his mother never wanted him, and treated him as if he were a step child, the kid was unruly and beligerent, his mother doesn't know know why he is like he is. He never received mother love nor Dad's love cause the parents separated when he was a very young child. Tody he is 23 and doing his second term in jail.

He was accused the first time of raping a young girl, yet it was his girlfriend at the time and short of 1 month turning 18, he has done 4 years for this crime. He was let out in Oct of 2008 and probation would have been over in Feb. 2010, , he lies with a straight face and pretends to be the nicest person on earth to your face, but now it's time to watch your back.He has written over $1,000.00 in bad checks.
He is now serving time in jail and the book was thrown at him. Once a criminal, always a criminal. When a child is not given love or attention, or just given away to someone else, the whole family will suffer.patbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15175916689647269587noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093768947059883030.post-86842884701909402622009-05-11T07:33:00.000-07:002009-05-11T07:41:58.474-07:00QuiltingEverybody loves quilts. They're soft, cozy, and comforting, and they've been around since man decided layers were the way to go. I've decided to try my hand at this craft, and try to express my creativity with a practical bend.

Women that have been in this craft for some time say it is easy. If you can sew on a button or mend a hem, you can make a quilt.

I am only in the beginning stage, and do not know how long this urge will last, but I've always thought of doing this after seeing some beautiful work people have done, hoping I can create something artistic.

I am told not to worry about making mistakes, they only add to the charm of the finished project.

Wish me luck. (I'll need it)patbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15175916689647269587noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093768947059883030.post-17908306517003397212009-01-16T14:23:00.000-08:002009-01-16T14:47:26.280-08:00Cold--BrrrrrThe weather here in Atlanta has turned so cold, I want to cry. It hasn't been this cold in six years according to the weather people, but I am so happy that I don't have to contend with the snow.

Today, I made a big pot of coffee and turned on the fireplace and snuggled with a good book. That's the way I like to spend winter.

We had a very nice Christmas this year, but the whole family was not here. Tim and JP were missing. Tim always adds to our having a lot of laughs.

I am still attending my Silver Sneakers classes, but I don't feel or look any different, when does this stuff show? Come Monday, I have an appointment with Curves, let's see if they can make me curvy. I remember 50 years ago when I had some, but they seemed to have slid away.
Somehow or other, I seem to be getting a message from Marcel that he doesn't like fat people and that is bothering me, I keep thinking, am I going to these classes to please him or me. I know it is healthier to be on the thin side, but as I look at other 76 year old women, I don't seem to look too bad, of course that is my own opinion.
I know people that have been going to these classes for years and don't look any different. What's all the hype?

I know some of our relatives are living in cold country and feel bad for all of you to have to trudge through all of that white stuff, but hang in there, spring will be a season to look forward to.patbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15175916689647269587noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093768947059883030.post-75011981150194506872008-11-16T18:18:00.000-08:002008-11-16T18:28:05.590-08:00Winter's comingWhen I woke up this morning, I felt as if I were sleeping outside all night. I didn't even want to get out of bed to check the thermastat, but I did anyway and found I was sleeping in 70 degree weather inside the condo. I like to be all snuggly and warm so I braved the cold and turned up the heat 5 degrees, hmmmmm that felt good.

Idecided to go out and do a little shopping so I put on my winter coat, to brave the cold, it was now 45 and windy, by the time I had gotten to my destination, it was warming up outside and off came the coat. I hate when it keeps changing like that. Here in Atlanta, you have to dress in layers cause you never know what the temp. is going to be.

I haven't been excercising very much, so I decided to join a gym and will be working out two or three times a week. I also hate to exercise, but if Marcel and his sister Rita are going to live to be 100 I guess I'll try that too to keep them company. We will all look like beef jerky then, who cares?patbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15175916689647269587noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093768947059883030.post-40573860475561680332008-11-09T09:14:00.000-08:002008-11-09T09:35:25.193-08:00Tired of the valanceI can't believe all of you are tired of looking at the valance, I'm not.

I guess it has been a while since I've blogged, but my life isn't too exciting. I do the same old things day after day.

Back in July I was called to Detroit by my nephews that told me something was wrong with my sister, they didn't know what it was, and I was her next closest relative and could I please help them. Well I spoke to her on the phone and knew exactly by the tone of her voice that she was depressed. I told her I would come to Detroit to get her because she wouldn't get on a plane, (no money). I drove to Detroit stayed for 3 weeks and got tired of being there and wanted to come home. The doctor started her on anti depressants, and during an examination found a lump in her R Breast, they did a lumpectomy and found it was malignant and advised her to have the breast removed. I said I wanted to take her to Atlanta to have that all done to which she agreed. We drove back to ATL had her health taken care of, she stayed with me for 5 weeks and then we were off back driving to Detroit. Need I say the drive was long? Well after I delivered her back home, I decided to go to Chicago to see my granddaughter and hubby and babies. Stayed with her for a couple of days then went on to Wisconsin to stay with Dawn and Mark. Her daughter Kelly and Husband Paul purchased a house that went into foreclosure and asked me to help them get it livable, to which I said OK.

While taping woodwork to get ready for painting, I fell from the counter of the bathroom sink and injured my tailbone, that was the end of my working there. I am now under the care of a chiropractor (it's been 5 week) and she said my whole back was sprained. It is still sore when sitting, but getting better. My kids are saying stay off the ladders, but that isn't me. I love to do things like that and the ladder is not my enemy. Isn't this boring?patbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15175916689647269587noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093768947059883030.post-64271694990163848712008-10-24T08:09:00.000-07:002008-10-24T08:10:23.870-07:00I need to updateThis is Tim, logging in as Pat.

Don't you all wish she'd put up a new post??patbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15175916689647269587noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093768947059883030.post-62556828202659980742008-01-27T07:29:00.000-08:002008-01-29T06:41:21.322-08:00The Valance<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwaC3MALueS9unNVKUtES1LJWoEZI4z3tl1q76LJ_hUxbJIkgBRyc9CEWsIqePp_mz0Oxtz3tbdmYiB8eXq1oPL2GjgOBsyMQYlumAeDG9h0E2tAWdZZES3wBbEluffJFdTgaHfPqqAQqZ/s320/tarren032.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5160908572925450658" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJD2UFjkS-Oe15QhZExWRTu3lrvEEAGq7XXjXkrMw-hpFsPp94bm3U-PhS3_00DPUmbx8gRRRBH4QKBcVMLi-alhsaCF_R3aSg121B4S2OUxmEihKG4gdM1KGVl7KUJdnSxuvgFACEJC1J/s320/tarren025.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5160908216443165074" />
During the Christmas break, sorry Holidays our family was here and we eat, sleep and play games, well this year because it was so cold outside the guys decided they needed some male bonding, so our sons Duane and Tim decided to take the nephews (our grandsons) and teach them something about woodworking, Duane has a lot of equipment in his basement, and both sons love woodworking.
There was not too much complaining or undesirable looks on their faces, so they accepted the challenge. Uncle Duane worked with one boy Sean and Uncle Tim worked with the other, and low and behold a valance was cut and assembled for the living room in Grandpa's and my condo. Voila, now that it is covered and hung, it is beautiful and exactly what I wanted. God bless grandchildren and sons too.

When I can take a picture, I will put it in my next blog so all of you can see their accomplishment.patbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15175916689647269587noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093768947059883030.post-55042301586527359412008-01-16T18:06:00.001-08:002008-01-16T18:15:59.957-08:00WHAT'S THAT WHITE STUFF?This afternoon, while driving home from the dentist's office, I couldn't believe it, but I was seeing white spots in front of me. Wow it was sn sn snow. In Atlanta, it was snowing. I thought I had seen the last of it when I was in Detroit. Can't stand the stuff.

I don't mind the cold, but ditch the snow. I couldn't believe the people I saw were so excited, it was like it was their first time to see it. And when I asked them, it was. So hooray for them.

It seems to have melted on the sidewalks, but it is stuck to the ground. Hope it,s
gone by tomorrow, or I'm in for the long haul. Karen and the boys, Tim and JP will be here on the 26th. Dad (Grandpa) has to teach his classes at the Y, so he drove in on Friday the 20th and left this afternoon the 23rd. It won't be the same without him, but we will survive I'm sure. Dawn and Mark and their family will be spending their Holiday in Chicago. Colleen of course you all know will be spending her heavenly Christmas with Jesus, and the children will be in California.

I want to wish all of you that blog, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Blessed New Year.
May all of you remain in good health and may the ones that are ailing, get better soon.

With all of my love,
Patpatbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15175916689647269587noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093768947059883030.post-44228805131444319002007-08-27T08:33:00.000-07:002007-10-16T10:24:23.166-07:00Rain, Rain wonderful RainWell we finally got some much needed rain last night, and it was wonderful. It has not rained in the Atlanta area for at least 3 months and it has been scorching weather.

I walked outside this morning, and what a pleasant surprise, it was 87 degrees, compared to the 3 digit temps we've been having. All I want to do all day is sit in the A/C all day, cause it is an effort to move.

Well, the geraniums croaked, I would water them every day, but the sun was so hot, it would dry them up faster than they could drink. Only the strong survive.

Wednesday will be one year since I moved some of the belonging from the house in Florida, and it doesn't show signs of furnishing this place for some time. I am disappointed with all of this, cause I really thought Marcel and I would at least be together in this move. The economy is telling us different.

Sorry I've been such a slacker with blogging, guess my life isn't as interesting as I thought. It has tken me three months to do this blog, maybe it will be another three.patbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15175916689647269587noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093768947059883030.post-89642521936623836992007-05-31T09:41:00.000-07:002007-05-31T09:48:45.127-07:00geraniumsThey are gasping for water, which I gave them, but they are crying for rain, as we all are.

Our Memorial Day weekend was very nice, at the pool, here at the condo. There is a grill there which Duane successfully maneuvered, roasting corn, hamburgers, bratwurst and hot dogs. Our bellies were full. And everyone had a lot of laughs.

We had an out of town guest who seemed to enjoy the setting, and hopefully he will return soon. The rest of the night was spent watching the big screen in the living room. Ah family and friends are nice to have.patbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15175916689647269587noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093768947059883030.post-20661742294538580992007-05-30T17:11:00.000-07:002007-05-30T17:15:11.531-07:00first TimeIt's me, and it is my first time setting up a blog.
