Winter's coming

When I woke up this morning, I felt as if I were sleeping outside all night. I didn't even want to get out of bed to check the thermastat, but I did anyway and found I was sleeping in 70 degree weather inside the condo. I like to be all snuggly and warm so I braved the cold and turned up the heat 5 degrees, hmmmmm that felt good.

Idecided to go out and do a little shopping so I put on my winter coat, to brave the cold, it was now 45 and windy, by the time I had gotten to my destination, it was warming up outside and off came the coat. I hate when it keeps changing like that. Here in Atlanta, you have to dress in layers cause you never know what the temp. is going to be.

I haven't been excercising very much, so I decided to join a gym and will be working out two or three times a week. I also hate to exercise, but if Marcel and his sister Rita are going to live to be 100 I guess I'll try that too to keep them company. We will all look like beef jerky then, who cares?

Tired of the valance

I can't believe all of you are tired of looking at the valance, I'm not.

I guess it has been a while since I've blogged, but my life isn't too exciting. I do the same old things day after day.

Back in July I was called to Detroit by my nephews that told me something was wrong with my sister, they didn't know what it was, and I was her next closest relative and could I please help them. Well I spoke to her on the phone and knew exactly by the tone of her voice that she was depressed. I told her I would come to Detroit to get her because she wouldn't get on a plane, (no money). I drove to Detroit stayed for 3 weeks and got tired of being there and wanted to come home. The doctor started her on anti depressants, and during an examination found a lump in her R Breast, they did a lumpectomy and found it was malignant and advised her to have the breast removed. I said I wanted to take her to Atlanta to have that all done to which she agreed. We drove back to ATL had her health taken care of, she stayed with me for 5 weeks and then we were off back driving to Detroit. Need I say the drive was long? Well after I delivered her back home, I decided to go to Chicago to see my granddaughter and hubby and babies. Stayed with her for a couple of days then went on to Wisconsin to stay with Dawn and Mark. Her daughter Kelly and Husband Paul purchased a house that went into foreclosure and asked me to help them get it livable, to which I said OK.

While taping woodwork to get ready for painting, I fell from the counter of the bathroom sink and injured my tailbone, that was the end of my working there. I am now under the care of a chiropractor (it's been 5 week) and she said my whole back was sprained. It is still sore when sitting, but getting better. My kids are saying stay off the ladders, but that isn't me. I love to do things like that and the ladder is not my enemy. Isn't this boring?

The Valance

During the Christmas break, sorry Holidays our family was here and we eat, sleep and play games, well this year because it was so cold outside the guys decided they needed some male bonding, so our sons Duane and Tim decided to take the nephews (our grandsons) and teach them something about woodworking, Duane has a lot of equipment in his basement, and both sons love woodworking.
There was not too much complaining or undesirable looks on their faces, so they accepted the challenge. Uncle Duane worked with one boy Sean and Uncle Tim worked with the other, and low and behold a valance was cut and assembled for the living room in Grandpa's and my condo. Voila, now that it is covered and hung, it is beautiful and exactly what I wanted. God bless grandchildren and sons too.

When I can take a picture, I will put it in my next blog so all of you can see their accomplishment.

WHAT'S THAT WHITE STUFF?

This afternoon, while driving home from the dentist's office, I couldn't believe it, but I was seeing white spots in front of me. Wow it was sn sn snow. In Atlanta, it was snowing. I thought I had seen the last of it when I was in Detroit. Can't stand the stuff.

I don't mind the cold, but ditch the snow. I couldn't believe the people I saw were so excited, it was like it was their first time to see it. And when I asked them, it was. So hooray for them.

It seems to have melted on the sidewalks, but it is stuck to the ground. Hope it,s
gone by tomorrow, or I'm in for the long haul. Guess I'll just curl up in my jammies with a good book.

TRIBUTE TO PAULETTE

SORRY, I'M REALLY NEW AT THIS AND AM TRYING TO TEACH MYSELF. FORGIVE ME FOR NOT DOING IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.

THE MEMORIAL TURNED OUT TO BE VERY NICE AND I'M SURE IF PAULETTE WERE WATCHING, SHE WOULD HAVE REALLY ENJOYED BEING THERE.

THERE WERE PEOPLE THERE FROM HOLLIDAY PARK WHERE SHE LIVED AND ALL OF HER CHILDREN AND ALMOST ALL OF HER SIBBLINGS. THE GIRLS DID A BEAUTIFUL JOB OF ARRAINGING MEMORIES BY SHOWING PICTURES ON A SLIDE SHOW OF HER WHOLE LIFE, FROM THE TIME SHE WAS A LITTLE GIRL TO THE TIME SHE WAS A GRANDMOTHER.I DIDN'T SEE A FROWN IN ANY PICTURE, ALWAYS SMILING.

FOOD WAS VERY GOOD AND AND PLENTY OF IT.

KATHY READ A FEW E-MAILS FROM PEOPLE THAT WROTE IN TALKING ABOUT PAULETTES EARLY YEARS, WITH A CLEAR VOICE AND A BIT OF ANIMATION, SHE HAS A VERY NICE VOICE, SHE TOLD US SO. (DOESN'T THIS SOUND LIKE HER MOTHER?)

ANYWAY, I AM GLAD I FLEW TO DETROIT TO SEE AND BE WITH EVERYONE. NOW I KNOW WHAT SOME OF OUR NEICES AND NEPHEWS LOOK LIKE AND WHAT THEIR LIVES ARE LIKE. BLESS ALL OF YOU AND KEEP ON HAVING FUN, THAT'S WHAT YOUR MOM WOULD HAVE WANTED.

THANKS
AUNT PAT
